Louise has always been an avid photographer, and is known by her family and friends for two things: carrying her camera with her everywhere she goes, and celebrating life’s special occasions with a personalized note written inside a beautifully hand-made photo card. Encouraged by her friends and family to make these photo cards available to others, she decided to start a home-based business, The Card Cabin. Louise is a self-taught photographer, gleaning some of her knowledge from her father who used "old school" dark room techniques through his own graphics business.  Louise’s love of photography,  appreciation for natural beauty, and attention to detail all result in unique and detailed photographs that are perfect for special occasions like graduations, baby showers, Easter, Mother’s Day or Valentines’ Day.

Originally from the UK, Louise and her husband, Dean, emigrated to Canada in 2005. They settled in Victoria, B.C. where Louise enjoyed the adventure of becoming familiar with new surroundings. She spent much time viewing the Butchart Gardens, especially through the lens of her camera and would often spend the day wandering around the gardens taking photographs. When an opportunity arose for her and her husband to relocate to the  Comox Valley, they jumped at the chance. They had enjoyed vacationing in the Comox Valley years before leaving the UK and knew that it was a special place they could call home. They settled in Black Creek, a quiet rural community situated between Campbell River and Courtenay.

Fascinated by the many details of nature that so often go unnoticed, Louise thrills at the opportunity of doing whatever it takes to get the perfect photo for her cards, even if that means getting eye to eye with the bugs, or stalking her two mischievous cats, Bear and Lily, for yet another encounter with the camera. The natural beauty and slower relaxed pace of rural Vancouver Island continues to inspire her creativity, as she enjoys her own garden and a back to basics lifestyle in what she calls their little cabin paradise.
